There are dozens of gummy candies on the market, so why not let your dog enjoy a similar treat? While you obviously wouldn’t want to give your dog a sugar-packed gummy bear, you can make a gummy treat that is perfect for pups.
This two ingredient dog treat is not only easy, but it doesn’t take long to make. All you need is chicken stock and gelatin. The bulk of the work is just waiting for the gummies to gel.
First, you will want to make sure you have a mold or something to put the liquid in to solidify. You can purchase molds or use ice cube trays.
You will then need to bring the chicken stock to a boil. Once boiling, remove the pot from the heat and let it cool for three minutes.
Then, stir in the gelatin and whisk until no clumps are left. Next, let the liquid cool for a few minutes.
Then, carefully pour the mixture into the molds. I suggest not filling the molds all the way to the top to prevent spills and to keep the gelling time down.
You will want to refrigerate the liquid until it is solid, which may take a few hours. If you want to speed up the process, put the gummies in the freezer for about an hour and a half. Don’t leave them in the freezer too long, however, or they will be solid when you are ready to serve them.
You should wait to serve them until they are solid, but jiggly. If you put them in the freezer, be sure to let them thaw before you serve them, as you could damage your dog’s teeth.
These treats should be stored in the refrigerator. You can keep them for up to two weeks in the fridge. If you want to freeze them to keep them longer, they will be good for a couple months.
