Looking for a healthy snack for your dog that you can easily make from home? Here is our Banana Carrot Cookies dog treat recipe.
Bananas and carrots aren’t just good for people; they are also good for dogs. This easy recipe combines the two for a nice little treat for your favorite pooch or pooches.
Carrots are a great source of Vitamin A and Beta-Carotene. Beta-Carotene will help your dog keep a beautiful coat and help keep its eyes healthy.
Bananas are a good source of potassium, manganese, Vitamin B6, Vitamin C and fiber. While these health benefits are great, you should only feed these to your dog in moderation, as they contain a lot of sugar, which can be bad for Fido.
Plus, with a little parsley, it will help freshen your dog’s breath on those days when it is extra gross. Make sure you don’t use Spring parsley, however, as it is toxic to dogs and cats.
To start, you will want to grate your carrots and mash the banana. Once that is done, combine all the ingredients in a bowl and stir until well combined.
Next, you will want to pour the dough on a floured surface. Flour the top of the dough and start rolling it. When you finish rolling, the dough should be 1/4- to 1/2-inch thick. Using a cookie cutter, you can cut the dough into whatever shape you wish. Dog shapes are extra fun, however!
Place the cookies on a greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Once they are done, let them cool on the baking sheet for at least ten minutes before you remove them. Then, you can let them finish cooling on a cooling rack or fresh cookie sheet.
Once they have cooled, you can store in them in the fridge for 10 days or they can be stored in the freezer for three weeks.
